DENISE FUSSELL
A native of Smyrna, Georgia, and the youngest of seven, Denise Fussell is a playwright and passionate storyteller who creates short stories and skits centered on family, friendships, love, and social issues.
She is the founder of Bully Go Home, a nonprofit initiative that operates under the umbrella of the Back 2 Glo Foundation. Through this platform, she produces stage plays, concerts, comedy shows, films, and documentaries that focus on family, faith, and community.
With encouragement from her late mentor and friend, William Guest of Gladys Knight & The Pips, Denise pursued her lifelong dream of writing for the stage. She has since written and produced several musical stage productions.
Her skit Bully Go Home, designed for children ages 5 to 11, reflects her dedication to breaking the cycle of bullying through impactful storytelling.
Denise’s latest stage play, Bold, Bald & Beautiful, sheds light on alopecia—an issue affecting people of all ages and races—offering a powerful message of awareness, resilience, and self-acceptance.
Alopecia refers to hair loss or the absence of hair, a common condition that can affect any area of the body where hair grows, but is most noticeable on the scalp. It's often used interchangeably with the term "baldness". There are various types of alopecia, with alopecia areata being a well-known autoimmune form that causes patchy hair loss, often on the scalp but potentially affecting other areas of the body. Other types include androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness) and scarring alopecia.
